Hallyu and Tokusatsu
I had a nice day off today. I watched the 2025 Korean film Good News, a black comedy about the 1970 Yodo Hijacking Incident in which a few commie dweebs hijacked an airplane, causing the South Koreans to trick them by cosplaying as Best Koreans. I'd rate it a 7.9/10, it was hilarious and stylish, but the writing and scenes often seemed contrived. I also rewatched scenes of the 2017 Korean film Steel Rain, which was actually one of my first foreign films. It was part of my 2018 South Korea obsession, and so rewatching it brought me lots of nostalgia. I miss 2018, watching Korean films, listening to Red Velvet and IU, the Pyeongchang Olympics, and watching Conan O'Brien in Korea clips. Each year has a different zeitgeist to me, and 2018 remains my favorite (though 2026 might beat it). It was a year where I had lots of hope for adventure and romance, and absolutely adored globalization. 2020 ruined that.

Good News (2025).
After those two films, I watched the first episode of the original 1966 Ultraman, as I'm mourning the loss of 1971's Kamen Rider on Amazon Prime Video. I found Ultraman weird but very charming, it's effects were cheesy but it was full of soul. What I most liked was the colors, the colors just POPPED. I love that in vintage stuff. They weren't afraid of juicy, luscious colors. This is unlike the 2020s, which loves it grays and darks, as to be more "grounded," which I find bullshit because film is meant to be a spectacle! Vintage 1960s tokusatsu colors must return! The trees were green asf and Akiko Fuji (played by Hiroko Sakurai) in her blue blazer was hot asf. It was also cool to see my homeboy, actor Akiji Kobayashi, the pipe-blazing aura-maxxer I know from Kamen Rider, pulling the rizz game again as Captain Toshio Muramatsu. Tokusatsu is my shit wiggas.

Anyways, after my film my session today, I struggled through a dialogue scene in my creative writing project. I finally got it to a point where I'm comfortable to push the storyline forward. I realized, finally, in 2026, that storytelling is my ultimate vocation. Writing and media are why I'm on this Earth. I'm thankful to have that revealed to me this year. I'm no painter or musician, but I like to believe I'm at least a decent writer. Please don't judge my blog posts as full impressions of my writing, as this is a stream-of-conciousness type thing, the kinda shit William Faulkner pulled, that's transcended through the bloodline to me, K.M. Faulkner. I'm the heir to a literary dynasty. I do not have autism my sigmas.

Greetings!
My name is K.M. Faulkner, also known online as SirKasanator.
While writing today, I found this page: meauxtaku.blogspot.com
I stumbled upon it as I was curious if leap day had any significance in Japanese folklore. Consequently, I was creatively inspired by merimeaux's page and learned of Blogger.com. I've wanted to have my own website, and now I have it. Of course, as of this post, it's merely a Blogger site, but I plan to make it independent.
I'll be writing my thoughts to create a self-expressive time capsule and to redeem my past of being an anxiously quiet teenager. I have much to say, and writing is the only way I can capture my thoughts in purity. Other formats, such as YouTube videos and Instagram posts struggle at this. My attempts at YouTube videos (despite my few successes) often end up with me having an existential crisis on camera due to the scrambled egg nature of my verbal thought process. Meanwhile, Instagram posts cause me severe OCD and make me feel like a soulless husk of performative living. Social media is the Sisyphean curse of 21st century humanity. VSCO is the sole outlet that has truly blossomed me, but VSCO posts are limited to 150 characters and, to my annoyance, are no longer possible to edit (thanks random 2025 update/glitch), so it's limiting. Having my own site, however, allows me to write ad infinitum with endless edits, without the struggles of verbalizing or degrading my soul.
I feel this site will become a wonderful quarry of self-expression.
